Wildflowers

Wildflowers

Hi friends,

As I’ve been preparing for our upcoming Wildflowers show with my studio mates, something meaningful started unfolding inside the paintings.

The show is called Wildflowers because before Bee Sieburg ever had an art business, Wildflowers was the name of her floral design business. Bee is one of my studio mates and she spent nearly 20 years in space I now work in. And when I paint there, I still feel traces of her process everywhere (maybe is the splatters on the floor and the wall, we are both equally messy painters!). Her creativity, her fearlessness, the life that was built in that room. She inspires me, and all of us in the studio, deeply.

One day while working on a painting, I decided to add a bee almost instinctively. The moment I painted it, I had this immediate realization that I wanted to add bees throughout the collection as a quiet way of honoring Bee, the space we’ve shared, and the creative lineage that exists between women artists.

And then something even more beautiful happened.

My mom reminded me that Bunch of Beeswas actually the name of my very first creative business years ago.

Suddenly it all became this full circle moment I didn’t see coming.

What started as a small symbol inside a painting turned into something much bigger about women, creativity, shared spaces, mentorship, memory, and the invisible ways we carry pieces of one another forward. About how creativity travels. About how sometimes our stories are quietly weaving themselves together long before we fully understand what they mean.

The bees found their place in these paintings before I even understood why they needed to be there.

And now I can’t imagine the work without them.

I can’t wait to share this show with you all.

For now, a few pictures from my studio.
